Learning strategies
Strategy: task analysis:
Breaking down a task into its discrete parts and then teaching each one is vital for use by special education teacher and is a proven, evidence-based practice.
In this video from the Utah Personal Development Center you will see a very discreet breakdown of a student’s task, making a sandwich.
But task analysis can apply to almost any sequential learning task including academics. For young children, who are learning cursive writing, task analysis is vital. Task analysis can be used in social skills teaching. It can be used in writing teaching. And it can be used in mathematics. Any procedural task learning can be accomplished using the sequential learning strategy of TASK.
